Data Protection Manager

Position Overview

This role is offered on behalf of a partner company managing all applications and applicant communication. The company is seeking a Data Protection Manager based in Ireland to drive the organization’s privacy and data protection initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support a small privacy team by setting strategic priorities, reviewing output, and fostering professional growth.
• Develop, implement, and continuously enhance the company's data privacy framework, including policies and governance procedures.
• Maintain essential privacy records such as Records of Processing Activities (RoPA), privacy risk registers, and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).
• Ensure continuous adherence to GDPR and other relevant data protection laws, stay updated on regulatory changes, and propose improvements accordingly.
• Design and manage Data Processing Agreement (DPA) templates, ensuring they are effectively utilized across the organization.
• Oversee the management of Data Subject Request (DSR) processes to guarantee compliance with legal standards.
• Collaborate with business and product teams to embed privacy-by-design and privacy-by-default principles throughout project development.
• Handle incident management for personal data breaches, including evaluation, documentation, and notifying regulators when necessary.
• Coordinate privacy audits, vendor risk evaluations, and support internal compliance efforts.
• Serve as the main advisor on all data protection matters and lead privacy training and awareness initiatives within the company.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Information Management, Law specialized in Data Protection, Data Science, or related disciplines, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of five years’ relevant experience in data privacy, information security compliance, or a similar field.
• Proven leadership experience with small teams.
• Strong expertise in GDPR, CCPA, plus at least one other data privacy framework.
• Knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance requirements within regulated industries.
• Practical experience with privacy program implementation, DPIA execution, and handling DSR processes.
• Familiar with privacy management systems and data governance technologies.
• Excellent communication and relationship management skills to translate regulatory requirements into actionable business practices.
• Professional certifications like CIPP/E, CIPM, or CIPT are advantageous.
