Primary Purpose

The main objective of this position is to proactively reduce the organisation's financial exposure by maximizing the collection of outstanding debts.

Key Responsibilities

Mitigate financial risks related to outstanding payments.
Achieve debt collection targets within established benchmarks.
Optimize the use of resources to improve operational efficiency.

Educational Requirements

Completion of Grade 12 (Matric certificate).

Experience Requirements

Essential experience in debt collection practices.
Preferably two to three years working within a debt collection environment.
Exposure to private hospital settings is advantageous.

Skills and Knowledge

Understanding of funder contract rules and their implementation.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
Familiar with patient administration policies and procedures.
Strong financial acumen including reconciliations, debits, credits, and journal adjustments.
Insight into Medical Aid requirements.
Experience with AS400 system patient administration software.
Knowledge of render and EDI processes, financial follow-ups across all classes, unclaimed overpayments, and bad debt management.
Expertise in credit control principles.
Awareness of debt collection policies, procedural guidelines, and relevant legislation.
Competent in various software including Connect, AS400, Debtpack Enterprise Systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Understanding of legislation impacting debt collection such as the National Credit Act, Consumer Protection Act, and Workman’s Compensation Act.
