AI Project Coordinator (Remote, US-Based)

About the Role

Mercor is a talent network connecting top creative and technical professionals with prominent AI research organizations. Backed by notable investors and working with industry leaders, Mercor seeks an AI Project Coordinator to oversee and guide AI data initiatives for clients, all while working remotely from anywhere in the United States.

Main Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary coordinator and point of contact for ongoing AI and data-driven projects, ensuring processes remain efficient and on track.
• Collaborate closely with program managers and subject matter experts to distill strategic directions into step-by-step instructions for teams.
• Support the onboarding and integration of new experts as project teams grow.
• Participate actively in weekly business check-ins, keeping meeting notes, identifying next steps, and occasionally leading discussions.
• Detect and analyze quality concerns, investigating causes and sharing conclusions with relevant stakeholders.
• Work with research and product partners to refine internal project guidelines and best practices.
• Proactively highlight obstacles and contribute to their resolution before they escalate.
• Maintain oversight of deliverables and project progress with Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel.
• Maintain adaptability to respond to evolving project requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Currently residing in the United States.
• A minimum of 3 years in roles involving project coordination or project management.
• Track record of successfully guiding multi-disciplinary, cross-functional teams.
• Direct experience working with datasets for AI training or human-data labeling initiatives.
• Advanced skills in spreadsheet and relational database tools (Excel, SQL).
• Basic understanding and practical experience with programming or scripting.
• Background in managing teams or leading sizable groups effectively.

Preferred Experience

• Educational background in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) is highly valued.
• Previous involvement in AI or data-centric project management, preferably for organizations such as Meta, TikTok, or Amazon.
• Experience with Mercor-led projects or similar AI data training programs.
