About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Administrative Law Judge to independently conduct administrative hearings and deliver lawful, well-reasoned decisions. This contract position is fully remote with work hours aligned to Arizona time, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The role spans from August 10, 2026, to December 31, 2026, requiring a dedication of 40 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Preside over numerous telephonic administrative hearings daily.
- Thoroughly examine case files and relevant hearing documents before hearings.
- Oversee testimony, adjudicate evidentiary issues, and uphold courtroom order.
- Ensure compliance with legal notification and procedural guidelines.
- Compose clear, precise, and timely written decisions grounded in federal and Arizona laws.
- Handle a substantial caseload efficiently while adhering to tight deadlines.
- Maintain timely communication during business hours regarding work matters.
Essential Qualifications
- Prior experience as an Administrative Hearing Officer or similar adjudicative capacity.
- Proficient legal research, analytical capabilities, and strong legal writing competence.
- Sound understanding of administrative law, evidentiary rules, due process, and judicial ethical standards.
- Excellent communication skills, including active listening and conflict resolution techniques.
- Ability to swiftly analyze complex legal scenarios and render decisions effectively.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office and virtual communication technologies.
Preferred Credentials
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
- Active membership in good standing with a State Bar Association.
- Previous experience conducting administrative hearings is highly valued.
- Arizona residents preferred, yet candidates from other states are encouraged to apply.
Additional Details
- This is a 100% remote opportunity; work must be conducted during Arizona business hours.
- Out-of-state candidates are responsible for providing their own hardware, with virtual desktop access supplied.
