Adjunct Faculty - Computer Science and Engineering

About the Opportunity

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at the American University of Sharjah (AUS), within the College of Engineering, is seeking applications for an adjunct faculty position starting in the Fall Semester of 2027. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer engineering or a closely related discipline, with a proven track record in teaching. Preference will be given to those familiar with the American higher education system.

Teaching Responsibilities

The selected adjunct faculty member will be responsible for instructing one to two courses per semester on the AUS campus located in Sharjah. Courses are generally scheduled during daytime hours and span two to three days per week.

Department Overview

The CSE Department hosts approximately 850 undergraduate and 30 graduate students supported by 25 faculty members and 11 laboratory instructors. The campus community is highly international, representing over 90 nationalities. The department offers multiple programs: Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Engineering and Computer Science, Master of Science degrees in Computer Engineering and Machine Learning, plus a joint PhD program in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Institution and Accreditation

AUS is an independent, not-for-profit university situated in the Emirate of Sharjah, roughly 15 km from Dubai, catering to about 5,200 students. It holds accreditation from the Commission for Academic Accreditation of the UAE Ministry of Education’s Higher Education Affairs Division, and since 2004, it has been accredited in the United States by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Additionally, its undergraduate engineering programs are accredited by ABET’s Engineering Accreditation Commission and Computing Accreditation Commission.
