Role Overview
Stanford University seeks an Accounting Associate for a fixed two-year term to provide essential accounting and financial support to departmental and unit functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify, compile, and process accounting transactions and documentation ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to compliance requirements.
- Review support documents, journal entries, and transaction authorizations; monitor accounting systems for outstanding and cleared transactions.
- Create, maintain, and review financial data and daily reports for precision; produce standardized financial summaries.
- Address and resolve transactional inquiries, referring complex concerns to appropriate parties.
- Manage procurement card (p-card) administration, travel card processing, and reimbursement of expendable expenses where applicable.
- Establish accounts within financial systems and prepare invoices as needed.
- Engage in departmental initiatives such as user testing and process improvements.
- Maintain organized accounting files, desktop procedures, and ensure ongoing compliance with University regulations and federal standards.
Physical and Working Conditions
- Perform repetitive desk-based computer tasks regularly.
- Frequently engage in filing, paperwork handling, and use of fine motor skills; lifting or moving objects up to 10 pounds.
- Occasional physical activities such as writing by hand, bending, twisting, stooping, and squatting.
