Position Overview

The TEAK Fellowship is seeking a skilled writing teacher to instruct middle or high school students, specifically 7th graders, during the Fall semester of 2026. Instructors will collaborate as part of a team to deliver the curriculum effectively across multiple locations in Manhattan, Bronx, and Queens. Candidates should specify their preferred teaching site in their application.

Responsibilities

• Deliver one writing class section to 7th or 8th-grade students for a 12-week period, September through December 2026.
• Conduct 70 minutes of instruction weekly, scheduled on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 4:45 PM to 6:15 PM (exact dates to be confirmed).
• Utilize Google Classroom to assign approximately one hour of homework each week and grade submitted assignments promptly.
• Participate in a pre-semester orientation session for new instructors.
• Join a weekly 30-minute planning meeting to coordinate teaching efforts.
• Prepare and submit midterm and final grades, including detailed comments on student writing progress.

Additional Information

Applicants must be U.S. citizens or possess valid work authorization. The salary ranges between $2,800 and $3,000 for the full semester, commensurate with experience. Teaching locations include Manhattan, Bronx, and Queens; applicants should indicate their site preference.
