Role Overview
The Trainee Accountant will provide critical support to UK clients through the preparation of statutory financial statements, year-end accounting procedures, bookkeeping tasks, VAT and payroll reconciliations, and routine accounting operations. The role demands a solid grasp of bookkeeping and tax principles along with fiscal accounting and compliance adherence to deliver accurate financial outcomes punctually.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply strong bookkeeping and personal tax return knowledge to identify risks, compliance issues, and gaps in processes.
- Execute year-end accounting and tax closures, including comprehensive reconciliations and adjustment entries.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing trial balances, conducting general ledger mapping, and analyzing accounts.
- Perform daily bookkeeping activities such as journal entries, accruals, deferrals, and reconciling bank and ledger statements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve outstanding year-end items and respond to client queries effectively.
- Maintain precise documentation following accounting standards and internal protocols.
- Ensure delivery of high-quality financial data within agreed deadlines.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience
- B.Com or M.Com degree is mandatory; CA Intermediate or equivalent qualification preferred.
- Between 1.5 to 2 years of practical experience in Indian accounting.
- In-depth knowledge of Indian accounting standards and concepts related to bookkeeping and personal tax returns.
- Hands-on expertise in year-end closing, bookkeeping, financial accounting, and tax compliance routines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with clients daily.
- Meticulous attention to detail and capability to manage multiple deadlines while producing quality results.
Work Arrangement and Shifts
- Work onsite at the office for the initial six months, transitioning to a hybrid model afterward based on business needs.
- Training period shift: 11:00 AM to 8:30 PM IST for three months.
- Post-training shifts adjusted seasonally:
- Indian Summer: 12:30 PM to 10:00 PM IST
- Indian Winter: 1:30 PM to 11:00 PM IST
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant has a B.Com or M.Com degree with 1.5 to 2 years of experience in Indian accounting, possesses solid bookkeeping knowledge, familiar with year-end accounting and tax compliance, demonstrates a strong analytical aptitude, and communicates effectively in client-facing contexts. A willingness to adapt to UK accounting practices and evening shift schedules is essential.
