Role Overview
We seek a Senior Catastrophe Research Analyst eager to explore data, extract patterns, and translate complex scientific information into actionable findings. This position focuses on assisting clients in comprehending their exposure to natural hazards and catastrophe risks primarily across New Zealand, Australia, and the broader APAC region. The role involves integrating expertise in natural hazard science with geospatial and data analytics to generate insights that inform risk-based decisions.
Key Duties
- Analyze extensive and intricate spatial data related to natural hazard risks.
- Employ geospatial techniques and query data using SQL and programming languages like Python.
- Convey insights and proposals to diverse stakeholder groups throughout the region.
- Collaborate with global teams across Analytics, Risk Advisory, and Broking to deliver superior client solutions.

The ideal candidate thrives on communicating scientific analyses to clients, possesses robust analytical and problem-solving skills, and enjoys deciphering complex issues.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- A degree or equivalent experience in Natural Hazards, Physical Geography, Earth Science, GIS, or a similar discipline.
- Proven expertise in geospatial analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL with experience handling complex datasets; knowledge of Python is a plus.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate technical data into practical recommendations for non-technical audiences.
- Strong project management abilities and experience engaging clients effectively.
- Familiarity with catastrophe modeling or the insurance/reinsurance sector is advantageous.
