About the Role
This position serves as a Senior Engineer Safety within the Asset Operations segment, focused on implementing and overseeing all safety policies at the site level. The main goal is to identify, address, or escalate safety risks following prescribed regulations and standards.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to established safety policies, standard operating procedures, and assist line management by interpreting and implementing these safety measures.
- Support the deployment of new initiatives or projects aligned with policy to fulfill future site requirements.
- Engage in both first and third-party health and safety audits in collaboration with the Lead Safety officer for assigned plants.
- Participate in external forums, industry groups, and global safety platforms to remain informed on best practices and promote continuous system improvements.
- Conduct safety observations for the assigned plant area, analyze findings, and recommend behavior-modifying actions.
- Maintain detailed logs and documentation to ensure compliance with safety standards during shifts.
- Investigate safety incidents within designated areas, perform root cause analyses, and develop action plans to prevent recurrence.
- Contribute to risk management initiatives, including control measures and incident investigations to mitigate critical risks.
- Generate management information system reports relating to safety updates, findings, and performance indicators to enhance awareness among plant management.
- Monitor leading and lagging safety indicators and spearhead improvement projects.
- Design training modules and conduct safety awareness sessions to elevate safety competence among executives and employees.
- Review near-miss analyses and propose focused improvements to line management.
- Coordinate and lead plant-level safety committee meetings to ensure effective communication and action on safety matters.

Knowledge and Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science with specialization in Mechanical, Chemical, Instrumentation, or Chemistry.
- 3 to 7 years of experience in process industry operations or maintenance, including 2 to 3 years managing health, safety, and environment (HSE) responsibilities.
- Strong understanding of safety compliance, operational technicalities, legal and regulatory requirements.
- Expertise in HSE assurance, risk management frameworks, fire safety management, and incident investigation.
Operating Network
Collaborates internally with Site & Operations Resources, HR, Finance, and other site teams. Externally interacts with auditors, government bodies, and consultants.
Career Path
This position typically progresses from Engineer Safety and can advance to Lead Safety positions.
