Engineering & Maintenance Head

Role Overview

Lead the Engineering & Maintenance department ensuring optimal performance and uptime of all tyre manufacturing machinery. Plan and implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities while managing plant utilities including compressors, boilers, chillers, DG sets, and HVAC systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee machine installation, commissioning, and related projects to boost operational efficiency.
• Track maintenance performance through KPIs such as OEE, MTBF, and MTTR, and drive equipment reliability enhancements.
• Promote initiatives focused on automation, energy conservation, and cost reduction.
• Ensure the availability of essential spare parts and maintenance resources to minimize downtime.
• Conduct root cause investigations and apply corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards, statutory regulations, and environmental compliance.
• Collaborate closely with Production, Quality, Procurement, and Safety teams for seamless operations.
• Lead and nurture a team of engineers, maintenance managers, supervisors, and technicians.
• Manage engineering department budgets, coordinate with contractors, and oversee external service providers.
• Support continuous improvement programs including TPM and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• Possess 10 to 15+ years of experience in engineering and maintenance within tyre, rubber, or process manufacturing sectors.
• Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role within a manufacturing plant's engineering function.
• In-depth knowledge of tyre manufacturing equipment, plant utilities, automation technologies including PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics, and reliability engineering concepts.
• Experience executing CapEx projects, overseeing plant expansion, and commissioning new equipment.
• Proficiency in TPM, Lean Manufacturing methodologies, and preventive/predictive maintenance practices.
• Strong leadership capabilities combined with skills in budgeting, project management, and cross-departmental coordination.
• Thorough understanding of industrial safety protocols, statutory compliance, and environmental regulations.
