Job Overview
The Planning & Cost Controller will be responsible for overseeing project budgets, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring financial effectiveness throughout all phases of projects. This role requires close collaboration with project managers, procurement, estimation, and finance departments to guarantee projects are delivered within budget and on schedule.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and update project timelines in accordance with client specifications.
- Create and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost reporting.
- Supervise project spending to maintain alignment with approved financial plans.
- Conduct cost analyses to pinpoint opportunities for savings.
- Monitor project advancement by comparing actual expenses to planned budgets.
- Generate variance reports and propose necessary corrective measures.
- Verify contractor billing for accuracy in quantities and pricing.
- Collaborate with procurement and engineering teams to assess change orders.
- Implement cost control policies compliant with organizational guidelines.
- Assist with project scheduling and allocation of resources.
- Participate in risk evaluations and financial impact assessments.
- Maintain comprehensive cost records and financial documentation for projects.
- Prepare monthly financial summaries for management review.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Material Efficiency & Waste Controls: Including slab utilization rates and waste percentage.
- Cost & Profitability Metrics: Such as gross margin percentage, unit cost of goods sold, and overhead absorption rates.
- Quality & Customer Metrics: Including remake/rework percentages and customer order cycle times.
- Financial Health & Liquidity: Metrics like days sales outstanding, EBITDA margin reviews, and inventory turnover ratios.
Required Skills and Expertise
- Proficiency in project scheduling tools like MS Project and Primavera.
- Strong experience in cost accounting and project management principles.
- Working knowledge of ERP software and construction industry applications.
- Understanding of quarrying methods and stone processing operations.
- Excellent analytical skills to identify inefficiencies and cost-saving measures.
