Job Overview
As a Naturalist at Winkler Botanical Preserve, you will engage in interpretive roles, collaborate with volunteers, and lead educational programs focused on natural resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct engaging presentations for school groups and the general public.
- Assist in creating exhibits and interpretive educational materials.
- Support preparation of school and public programs.
- Contribute to social media efforts including posting and photography.
- Coordinate and work alongside volunteers.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Completed at least two years of high school education in a natural resource-related field.
- One year of college education preferred.
- Possess general knowledge of biology and ecology.
- Familiarity with local flora and fauna of Northern Virginia.
- Strong communication skills suitable for interaction with both the public and team members.
- Capability to teach and effectively engage children in learning activities.
- Flexibility to work extra hours during busy periods, including holidays, evenings, and weekends.
- Certification in CPR, first aid, and AED, or willingness to obtain these credentials.
- Commitment to consistent and reliable attendance.
- Requirement to purchase and wear a standard uniform.
Compensation
The position offers a wage rate of $15.75 per hour.
