Job Overview

As a Naturalist at Winkler Botanical Preserve, you will engage in interpretive roles, collaborate with volunteers, and lead educational programs focused on natural resources.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct engaging presentations for school groups and the general public.
• Assist in creating exhibits and interpretive educational materials.
• Support preparation of school and public programs.
• Contribute to social media efforts including posting and photography.
• Coordinate and work alongside volunteers.
• Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Completed at least two years of high school education in a natural resource-related field.
• One year of college education preferred.
• Possess general knowledge of biology and ecology.
• Familiarity with local flora and fauna of Northern Virginia.
• Strong communication skills suitable for interaction with both the public and team members.
• Capability to teach and effectively engage children in learning activities.
• Flexibility to work extra hours during busy periods, including holidays, evenings, and weekends.
• Certification in CPR, first aid, and AED, or willingness to obtain these credentials.
• Commitment to consistent and reliable attendance.
• Requirement to purchase and wear a standard uniform.

Compensation

The position offers a wage rate of $15.75 per hour.
