Job description

About the Position

Greenstar is searching for a skilled Industrial Electrician with experience in maintaining and installing electrical systems across our dynamic operational sites in Navan, County Meath. This role is critical to ensuring uninterrupted production, operating within stringent safety and compliance standards, and directly supporting continuous plant operations through hands-on involvement with essential plant equipment.

Main Duties

  • Set up, commission, and precisely align electrical systems, machinery, and relevant equipment throughout the site.
  • Undertake both scheduled preventative maintenance and on-demand repair of electrical assets to reduce breakdowns and downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and remedy electrical issues on a broad range of industrial production equipment (including motors, VSDs, PLCs, and instrumentation).
  • Assist with mechanical failures where needed and cooperate closely with mechanical teams to resolve multi-disciplinary issues.
  • Adhere to all electrical safety rules, site-specific standards, and regulatory legislation during all tasks.
  • Maintain clear, accurate documentation of all inspections, repairs, and maintenance carried out.
  • Safely manage the handling of parts, materials, and toolkit, ensuring efficient and safe workplace practices.
  • Engage proactively with engineers, supervisors, and managers to enhance machinery reliability and site performance.
  • Participate in the weekend on-call rotation as determined by site needs.

Candidate Profile

  • Hold FETAC Level 6 or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, or possess a recognized Electrical Trade certification.
  • At least two years of experience post-apprenticeship in maintenance roles, ideally within an industrial or production environment.
  • Valid National Trade Certificate or Trade Card is required.
  • Hands-on technical ability in working with motors, contactors, variable speed drives (VSDs), PLC-controlled systems, industrial wiring, and instrumentation.
  • Interest and proficiency in supporting mechanical breakdown responses.
  • MEWP experience is beneficial; training is available if required.
  • Full Irish driving licence, with personal transport being an advantage.
  • Excellent English communication skills are essential.
  • Flexibility to join a weekend rota for on-call support.
