Kitchen Technician

Position Overview

This role involves responding promptly to guest repair needs and resolving maintenance concerns with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include performing preventive upkeep on equipment, tools, and machinery through cleaning, lubrication, and visual inspection. You will manage tools and equipment, operate shut-off valves, maintain maintenance stock, and communicate shift activities clearly.

Technical Expertise

The technician must demonstrate advanced ability in interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics related to plumbing and HVAC systems. Proficiency across multiple technical disciplines is essential, requiring competency in air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicle maintenance, energy conservation, and building management. Safe handling of hand and power tools is required, alongside the ability to execute complex repairs of property and mechanical equipment according to company standards and regulations. Troubleshooting of a variety of hotel equipment including pumps, motors, plumbing fixtures, electrical devices, HVAC systems, and electronic appliances is part of the job. The Lockout/Tagout system must be used appropriately before maintenance begins.

Systems and Training

Expertise in engineering software for preventive maintenance, energy management, and related systems is expected. Advanced troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems at the hotel are needed. The role involves mentoring junior engineers and managing Engineer on Duty duties including conducting rounds and readings.

Compliance and Safety

All safety and security protocols must be observed, including reporting hazards, accidents, and completing required training. Proper management of flammable materials and maintaining a professional appearance is mandatory. Adhering to confidentiality and company asset protection is required.

Guest Interaction

The technician will greet guests according to company policies, anticipate service requirements, accommodate disabilities, and provide courteous interactions that uphold brand standards. Effective teamwork and communication within the organization are essential.

Physical Demands

The position entails moving items up to 50 pounds independently and heavier loads with help, navigating stairs and ladders, and performing varied physical maneuvers such as bending and stretching. Use of computers for work-related information is part of daily tasks.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED with vocational/technical training.
• Extensive background in general maintenance, electrical or refrigeration systems, inventory management, and surface preparation.
• At least two years of hotel engineering or maintenance experience.
• Mandatory valid driver’s license and Universal Chlorofluorocarbon Certification.
• Compliance with relevant state and federal licensing and certification requirements.
