About the Role
A well-established manufacturing company located in Rochester, New York, is currently looking for a dedicated Human Resources Specialist to assist with daily HR activities. This role involves collaborating closely with the HR Manager and acting as a main point of contact for staff and supervisors. The position requires a candidate who is personable, organized, and thrives in a dynamic manufacturing setting.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist with recruitment processes, including interviewing and onboarding new employees.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and essential HR documentation.
- Respond to employee inquiries related to benefits, payroll, policies, and general HR concerns.
- Support workplace investigations and employee relations efforts.
- Advise supervisors on policy interpretations and employee issues.
- Organize performance appraisal processes and document corrective actions.
- Manage leave applications, attendance tracking, and workers’ compensation forms.
- Assist with enrollment in benefits programs and communication with employees.
- Oversee mandatory training programs and compliance record-keeping.
- Contribute to employee engagement and retention strategies.
- Ensure adherence to all pertinent federal, state, and local labor laws.
- Compile HR reports and assist during audits and special projects.
- Provide further assistance to the HR Manager as needed.
Candidate Qualifications
- Preferably holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- Has about three or more years of HR Generalist or equivalent experience.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial context is highly desirable.
- Demonstrates knowledge of employment legislation and standard HR practices.
- Proficient in recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, and HR operations.
- Exhibits strong interpersonal skills capable of fostering trust throughout the organization.
- Possesses excellent organizational aptitude, follow-up skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Handles confidential and sensitive material with discretion.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office applications and HR information systems.
