Data Analyst - Contract Roles in Brisbane

About the Company and Roles

BLACKROC is collaborating with a prominent global organization to locate two Data Analysts based in Brisbane. These contract positions span 6 months with a possibility of becoming permanent roles. Both openings focus on data product creation rather than simple analysis.

Role Overview

There are two distinctive roles: one embedded in the Finance team and another within the Data team. Both require strong proficiency in PowerBI, Databricks, SQL, and Python.

Position Details

• Finance Team Role: Responsible for building and sustaining data products that support liability and cost reporting for a significant customer program. This involves close collaboration with brand finance teams to deliver audit-compliant outputs.
• Data Team Role: Centered on developing an Analytics-as-a-Product platform by enhancing the existing data environment and creating new capabilities. The role works across Bronze, Silver, and Gold data layers to enable data-driven decisions business-wide.

Key Responsibilities

• Finance Role: Construct and maintain data products for liability and cost reporting, establish detection systems for audit exceptions to assess financial risk, reconcile data from various internal and revenue sources, and support finance reporting including cost calculations and portfolio reports.
• Data Role: Build and enhance the Analytics-as-a-Product platform, work on multiple data layers within Databricks, integrate various datasets into trusted reusable sources, and create hybrid tables to aid business analytics and reporting.

Required Skills & Experience

• Expertise in PowerBI and Databricks with substantial hands-on experience.
• Advanced skills in SQL and proficiency in Python tailored for data engineering and analytics workflows.
• A proactive mindset geared towards building effective data products beyond traditional data analysis.
• Ability to perform well in a dynamic, fast-moving, and sales data-oriented environment with some ambiguity.

Preferred Qualifications

• Finance Role: Experience in finance, financial services, or rewards and points-based reporting frameworks.
• Data Role: Familiarity with medallion architecture or lakehouse concepts.
