Cleaner In Charge

Position Overview

This is a permanent full-time role starting in Term 3, 2026 at Comet Bay College, a school dedicated to academic excellence and supportive student development in the Greater Perth Area. The Cleaner in Charge manages the opening and closing of the school premises alongside multiple internal and external cleaning duties to maintain a clean and safe environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and perform cleaning of carpets, hard floors, toilets, furniture, windows, dusting, and rubbish removal.
• Maintain external areas including verandas, covered zones, and drinking troughs, including removal of cobwebs and general upkeep of grounds.
• Lead vacation cleaning projects such as vinyl floor stripping and sealing, carpet shampooing, and pressure cleaning of outdoor covered areas.
• Oversee cleaning staff performance, including scheduling relief staff, monitoring attendance via the cleaner's time book, and collaborating with the Manager of Corporate Services.
• Manage cleaning supplies procurement, conduct regular inventory checks, and ensure maintenance or replacement of cleaning equipment.

Candidate Requirements

• Experience supervising cleaning teams is preferred.
• Proven ability in school or commercial cleaning practices.
• Familiarity with safe storage and handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Ability to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets, operational manuals, and safety training documents.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must obtain a valid Working With Children Check and pass a National Criminal History Check with Department of Education clearance.
• Australian or New Zealand citizenship, permanent residency, or valid visa with appropriate work rights during employment term.
