Cashier

Overview

This role is for a cashier position with Petro-Canada in Athabasca, Alberta, Canada. The work is based at the physical location, so it cannot be performed remotely.

Core duties

• Handle transactions through the cash register.
• Accept cash, cheques, and debit or credit card payments.
• Scan products accurately.
• Collect payment for merchandise or services.
• Balance shift or daily takings against total sales.
• Promote additional purchases through suggestive selling.
• Replenish shelves and keep the counter area tidy.
• Welcome customers and offer assistance.
• Bag or wrap merchandise for customers.
• Deliver courteous and helpful customer service.
• Monitor store entrances and exits, and ask for proof of payment when needed.
• Take part in promotional campaigns and activities.
• Confirm customer age when selling lottery tickets, alcohol, or tobacco products.
