Technical Manager - Offshore Drilling Operations

About the Role

Libera Consultants is seeking an experienced Senior Manager – Technical on behalf of a leading offshore drilling operator based in Eastern Saudi Arabia. This strategic leadership position entails overseeing the technical and maintenance functions for a fleet of offshore rigs, focusing on reliability, equipment maintenance, and compliance across operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct the strategies and standards for Technical Support, Well Control, and Maintenance & Reliability departments.
• Administer budgeting, allocation of resources, and deployment of maintenance tools within the department.
• Lead the implementation of SAP CMMS and promote standardized maintenance protocols fleet-wide.
• Manage offshore Field Support teams responsible for mechanical, electrical, and well control integrity onboard rigs.
• Formulate long-term equipment inspection and maintenance philosophies with a 5-year outlook.
• Contribute technical insights for annual maintenance budgeting processes.
• Conduct thorough investigations of equipment downtime incidents and implement corrective measures.
• Assess and introduce new technologies suitable for rig integration.
• Provide support for Special Purpose Ships (SPS), asset reactivation, and equipment upgrade projects throughout the fleet.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• A minimum of 15 years’ professional experience in the Oil & Gas sector, including over 5 years in a technical managerial capacity.
• Demonstrated leadership in offshore technical troubleshooting, maintenance, and project management.

Skills and Competencies

• Exceptional leadership capabilities with a track record in mentoring and team development.
• Advanced skills in tackling complex technical issues across offshore fleet operations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project for data analysis and project tracking.
• Familiarity with document control systems and database management.
