Role Overview

The Senior Planning Engineer will lead the creation and execution of detailed plans and timelines for engineering and construction projects. This includes analyzing project needs, estimating resources, adjusting schedules, tracking progress, and reporting performance. This role requires close collaboration with engineering, construction, and management teams to ensure project success according to specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Devise detailed project plans and schedules that reflect project goals, scope, and requirements.
  • Employ project management software to develop comprehensive work breakdown structures and activity sequences.
  • Assign resources accurately, estimate durations, and set milestones to ensure consistent progress.
  • Evaluate contractors' schedules for validity and practicality.
  • Continuously monitor and adjust resource allocations to address evolving project demands.
  • Lead regular meetings to review progress, resolve issues, and aid decision-making.
  • Assess delays and their impacts on contracts; devise strategies to mitigate schedule disruptions.
  • Track project expenses relative to budgets, identify discrepancies, and recommend corrective measures.
  • Collaborate closely with cost control teams to incorporate cost forecasts into the planning cycle.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally to ensure integration of all work streams and deliverables.
  • Perform critical path analyses to highlight tasks that influence project timelines and optimize these paths.
  • Work alongside procurement teams to align schedule integration with delivery and budget constraints.
  • Set benchmarks and KPIs to monitor project advancement against industry and company standards.
  • Analyze risks inherent to the project and develop responsive mitigation strategies.
  • Introduce process improvements to enhance efficiency in project planning and execution.
  • Prepare comprehensive weekly and monthly project status reports.
  • Evaluate the effects of variation orders on project schedules.
  • Carry out any other line manager assigned duties within the job scope.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in planning engineering roles including planning, scheduling, and cost analysis.
  • Proficient with PC operating systems, basic software, and discipline-specific tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Office, and Power BI.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in both Arabic and English.
