Job Purpose
The Co-op Mechanical Engineer role supports the Operations team by aiding production processes, monitoring equipment functionality, and enhancing operational efficiency. This position offers practical industrial engineering experience within manufacturing settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist daily production and operational workflow to ensure smooth manufacturing processes.
- Track production performance and recognize opportunities for improvements in procedures.
- Help resolve issues related to production and equipment malfunctions.
- Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to tackle operational obstacles.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts including Lean Manufacturing and 5S methodologies.
- Support monitoring of production KPIs and prepare operational performance reports.
- Create and maintain operational documentation, work instructions, and related reports.
- Carry out additional tasks as directed by the Operations Supervisor.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Enrolled in a co-op program with an official letter of approval from the university.
- Minimum GPA requirement of 3.75 on a 5.00 scale or 2.75 on a 4.00 scale.
- Fulfill all university or program criteria required for co-op placement.
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes, mechanical systems, and fundamental engineering principles.
- Strong communication and organizational capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
