Product Manager - Defence Operations Technology Centre

About the Role

You will join the Defence Operations Technology Centre (DOTC) within the Digital and Intelligence Service (DIS) to design and deliver impactful digital products for the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). This role offers the chance to independently analyze problems, innovate solutions, and bring to life products that address strategic goals and user requirements effectively.

DOTC is a recently formed unit dedicated to leveraging advanced technology and adopting industry leading software engineering practices to boost SAF's operational capabilities with innovative digital tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and develop products that are meaningful, user-friendly, and feasible for deployment in the SAF context.
• Oversee product lifecycle management to fulfill both team objectives and broader strategic goals.
• Engage regularly with stakeholders, team members, and end users to understand their priorities and limitations, shaping strong product strategies and execution plans.
• Promote product research and drive uptake among current and prospective SAF users.
• Keep abreast of technological advancements across the industry, as well as within the government and MINDEF/SAF.
• Lead agile practices including daily stand-ups to maintain momentum and ensure successful product deliveries.
• Recognize project risks early and propose mitigating actions to safeguard milestones and outcomes.

• Balancing differing stakeholder demands and navigating a complex defence environment with diverse user needs and strategic priorities to make well-informed product decisions.

Candidate Profile

• A background in Computer Science is desirable but not strictly required.
• Minimum of six years experience in product management or closely related roles.
• Possesses an entrepreneurial spirit and demonstrates proactive problem-solving abilities.
• Sound knowledge of product development processes and user experience principles.
• Capable of understanding solution architectures and prioritizing tasks effectively.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong technical understanding including software infrastructure, relevant tooling, and basic web development concepts.
