Job description

Role overview

Join the Defence Operations Technology Centre (DOTC) under the Digital and Intelligence Service (DIS) to create high-impact products for the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). This role gives you room to explore problem areas on your own, shape practical solutions, and take products from idea to launch in a setting that serves both mission priorities and end-user needs.

DOTC is a newly formed unit within DIS focused on using advanced technologies and industry-leading software engineering practices to strengthen SAF operational capability through digital innovation.

What you will do

  • Identify and shape products that are valuable, usable, and realistic to deliver within the SAF context.
  • Own and steer products so they support the needs of the product team as well as broader organisational objectives.
  • Work closely with stakeholders, team members, and users to understand priorities, constraints, and expectations, then translate them into sound product choices.
  • Promote product adoption among current and future users across the SAF.
  • Keep track of relevant technology trends across industry, the Whole of Government, and MINDEF/SAF.
  • Run daily stand-ups and use Agile methods to support effective product delivery.
  • Spot delivery risks early and suggest practical mitigation steps to improve the chances of success.

Key challenge

The main challenge in this role is reconciling competing stakeholder needs and operational constraints while making the best product decisions in a complex defence environment with varied user requirements and strategic priorities.

What we are looking for

  • A background in Computer Science is preferred, though it is not required.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in product management or a closely related function.
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial way of thinking with strong problem-solving drive.
  • Good judgment in product development and user experience design.
  • The ability to understand solution approaches and prioritise work effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage stakeholders well.
  • Solid technical awareness, including familiarity with software and infrastructure components, tooling, and basic web development concepts.

Appointment terms will depend on the depth and relevance of your experience. Only applicants selected for further consideration will be contacted.
