Role Overview

The Private Banker role involves managing a portfolio of clients and delivering exceptional client experiences aligned with Private Bank objectives. The main focus is on cultivating trusted client relationships, expanding lending and investment opportunities, and offering comprehensive support that includes lending, structuring, and broader banking solutions in line with approved strategies and policies.

Banking is rapidly evolving, and we embrace change to provide our team members opportunities for development and growth. This role is permanent, based in Whangarei or Kerikeri, New Zealand, and full-time onsite.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and implement strategic client plans focusing on lending solutions tailored to client goals, needs, and risk profiles.
• Originate, structure, and proactively oversee complex lending arrangements such as residential investment loans, owner-occupied financing, and customized credit solutions.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ANZ and approved external products, market conditions, and the broader economic environment.
• Ensure all provided advice and services adhere to ANZ’s risk management, compliance standards, policies, and accreditation requirements.
• Forge strong partnerships internally with Credit, Risk, Product, and Specialist teams and externally with professional networks to deliver valuable client outcomes.
• Coach and develop Associates to improve the quality of advice and client satisfaction.
• Contribute actively to business growth, continuous improvement initiatives, and the acquisition of new clients.
• Establish and maintain a strong professional presence within the community while exemplifying ANZ’s values and purpose.

Candidate Profile

• Possession of Financial Adviser required qualifications such as the National Certificate in Financial Services Level 5 or other approved equivalent certifications.
• Demonstrated experience building and maintaining robust client relationships as well as connections across professional, intermediary, community, and internal networks.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging for various audiences and deliver advice that aligns with client needs, combining technical knowledge with confident dialogue.
• Capability to independently oversee complex home lending deals without requiring approvals from Senior or Regional Managers or Credit teams, and capable of handling obstacles proactively.
• Resilient self-management with a growth mindset, supported by adaptability and a willingness to embrace change.
