International Welding Engineer (IWE)

Role Overview

Canara Hydraulics Pvt. Ltd., a reputed manufacturer specializing in hydraulic cylinders and systems across diverse sectors such as construction equipment, agriculture, and industrial machinery, seeks a skilled International Welding Engineer (IWE) to elevate its welding operations to meet global standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, apply, and sustain welding procedures aligned with ISO, AWS, ASME, EN, and ISO 3834 standards.
• Draft, analyze, and sanction Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welding Procedure Qualification Records (WPQR).
• Certify welders and welding operators per international regulations.
• Ensure welding practices meet ISO 3834 and client-specific requirements.
• Assess engineering drawings to suggest appropriate welding processes and materials.
• Fine-tune welding parameters to raise productivity, lower defects, and enhance quality.
• Manage Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) operations including Visual Testing (VT), Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), and Radiographic Testing (RT).
• Assist in new product development by defining welding methodologies and verifying manufacturing viability.
• Track welding quality indicators such as KPIs, rejection rates, repair rates, and process capabilities.
• Lead welding audits from customers, certifying bodies, and third-party organizations.
• Organize welding training and skill development programs for welders and supervisors.
• Assess and authorize welding consumables, tools, and fixtures.
• Collaborate with Design, Production, Quality, Supply Chain Management, and Customer Support teams to fulfill quality and delivery goals.
• Maintain adherence to safety, environmental, and legal standards related to welding operations.

Qualifications and Experience

• B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related disciplines.
• Mandatory International Welding Engineer (IWE) certification from an IIW-approved body.
• Additional qualifications like CSWIP, AWS CWI, ASNT Level II in Welding Inspection are advantageous.
• 6–15 years of welding engineering experience within manufacturing sectors.
• Practical expertise in welding and fabrication of hydraulic cylinders, pressure vessels, heavy machinery, or structural items.
• Familiarity with robotic welding and welding techniques such as MIG/MAG, TIG, SAW, and FCAW preferred.
• Acquaintance with OEM customer demands and international quality benchmarks.

Essential Skills

• Comprehensive knowledge of international welding standards (ISO, EN, AWS, ASME).
• Proficient in ISO 3834 implementation.
• Expertise in WPS, PQR, WPQR development and welder qualification.
• Capability in welding process formulation and validation.
• Understanding of welding metallurgy principles.
• Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
• Competency in welding quality assurance.
• Experience coordinating Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods.
• Skills in manufacturing process enhancements.
• Exposure to lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
• Ability to train teams and provide technical guidance.
• Effective communication and documentation abilities.
