Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, apply, and sustain welding procedures aligned with ISO, AWS, ASME, EN, and ISO 3834 standards.
  • Draft, analyze, and sanction Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welding Procedure Qualification Records (WPQR).
  • Certify welders and welding operators per international regulations.
  • Ensure welding practices meet ISO 3834 and client-specific requirements.
  • Assess engineering drawings to suggest appropriate welding processes and materials.
  • Fine-tune welding parameters to raise productivity, lower defects, and enhance quality.
  • Manage Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) operations including Visual Testing (VT), Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), and Radiographic Testing (RT).
  • Assist in new product development by defining welding methodologies and verifying manufacturing viability.
  • Track welding quality indicators such as KPIs, rejection rates, repair rates, and process capabilities.

  • Organize welding training and skill development programs for welders and supervisors.

Qualifications and Experience

  • B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Mandatory International Welding Engineer (IWE) certification from an IIW-approved body.
  • Additional qualifications like CSWIP, AWS CWI, ASNT Level II in Welding Inspection are advantageous.
  • 6–15 years of welding engineering experience within manufacturing sectors.
  • Practical expertise in welding and fabrication of hydraulic cylinders, pressure vessels, heavy machinery, or structural items.
  • Familiarity with robotic welding and welding techniques such as MIG/MAG, TIG, SAW, and FCAW preferred.
  • Acquaintance with OEM customer demands and international quality benchmarks.
