Data Analyst

Role Summary

Canada Life is looking to hire a detail-oriented and solutions-driven Data Analyst to support its Workplace Benefits and Retirement departments. This permanent full-time position involves collaborating closely with various teams including Field Sales and Service partners. The analyst will focus on exploring data thoroughly, pinpointing irregularities, and implementing efficient analytic solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and validate large datasets to uncover patterns, inconsistencies, and anomalies.
• Offer technical and functional assistance for complex compensation programs, guide decision-making by leveraging data-driven insights, and mentor colleagues.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries for data extraction and reporting purposes.
• Maintain business support tools and scripts through VB.NET.
• Convert intricate data into clear, actionable insights and narratives for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance data quality, accessibility, and automate workflows.
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data through rigorous validation and reconciliation.
• Troubleshoot issues, conduct detailed analyses, and facilitate application improvements.
• Document data pipelines, models, and analytic solutions to ensure long-term maintainability.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum of three years’ hands-on experience with data modeling and SQL query design/optimization.
• Proficiency in VB.NET, Power Automate, Power Apps, and Power BI.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences effectively.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of decomposing complex problems.
• Experience structuring, validating, and documenting complex datasets to support dependable decision-making.
• Demonstrated success in streamlining or automating manual operational processes and validation workflows.
• Skilled in detecting errors and anomalies within data.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• A proactive approach focused on understanding the purpose behind tasks and identifying improvements in processes and outcomes.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is from 65800 to 109700 CAD. This salary reflects base pay only and excludes variable components such as bonuses or commissions, which will be discussed with successful candidates during recruitment.
