Role Overview
We are seeking a commercially astute Senior Contracts Administrator based in Darwin, experienced in contract administration, procurement, and cost management within the construction industry. The ideal candidate demonstrates meticulous attention to detail, prudent judgment, and excels at managing competing priorities to support favorable commercial project outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Law, or a related field
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a Contracts Administrator or comparable role within construction
- In-depth knowledge of contract administration, subcontract management, and procurement procedures
- Proven ability to manage variations, progress claims, and subcontract packages effectively
- Strong commercial insight with capability to monitor costs, forecasts, and overall financial performance
- Exceptional analytical and organizational skills with a keen eye for detail
- Solid communication skills to liaise with internal teams, subcontractors, and key stakeholders
- Proficiency in JobPac, Microsoft Office suite, and project management systems
- Capacity to identify risks, exercise sound judgment, and proactively seek clarifications
- Ability to operate effectively and accurately under high-pressure, fast-paced environments
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate commercial success across projects through thorough contract administration, procurement, and cost control
- Assist in managing the complete contract cycle including tendering, award, contract administration, and close-out processes for head contracts and subcontracts
- Manage subcontract packages preparation, issuing, and ongoing compliance monitoring with contractual terms
- Prepare, evaluate, and administer subcontract progress claims, variations, and final accounts
- Support the preparation and submission of claims on head contracts ensuring correctness and contractual compliance
- Oversee procurement operations including documentation preparation, subcontractor engagement, evaluation, and award recommendations
- Track project costs, budgets, and forecasts, aiding in cost management and financial reporting
- Detect, evaluate, and escalate contractual and commercial risks, supporting mitigation plans
- Maintain accurate records for contracts, registers, and related documentation
- Produce commercial reporting such as cost tracking, procurement status, and contract performance metrics
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful execution
- Assist in resolving contractual issues, variations, and claims alongside senior team members
- Contribute positively to team performance while ensuring compliance with company protocols and processes
