About the Role
As a Quality Assessor at Silver Fern Farms Ltd in Hokitika, New Zealand, you will ensure that quality control and food safety programs are effectively executed and meet the required standards for customers, regulations, and production. Collaborating closely with production personnel, supervisors, and technical teams, you will support compliance efforts, conduct monitoring and verification activities, and contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee quality, food safety, and compliance programs throughout site operations.
- Perform verification tasks and address findings from compliance audits.
- Accurately complete required product, environmental, and process monitoring activities on schedule.
- Document and analyze temperature checks, microbiological tests, and other quality indicators.
- Detect, report, and assist in resolving quality and food safety concerns.
- Support the upkeep and effectiveness of HACCP systems.
- Help implement corrective and preventative measures to achieve food safety goals.
- Maintain proper records and documentation in alignment with company and regulatory standards.
- Provide administrative and technical assistance to the broader Technical Team.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects and foster a positive team environment.
Working Hours
The role involves various shifts throughout the year, including early morning (5:30am–2:30pm), regular day (7am–4pm), and afternoon/evening (2pm–10:30pm) schedules that align with production operations.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and precision.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong organizational abilities and capacity to handle multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with food safety, quality assurance, and compliance frameworks.
- Practical understanding of HACCP principles and their application.
- Proficient problem-solving skills and reliable judgment.
- Comfortable working with data, reporting, and maintaining records.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with operational and technical teams.
- Previous experience in quality assurance, food manufacturing, meat processing, or food safety is highly desirable.
Supervision and Collaboration
You will report directly to the Technical Manager and engage closely with operational leaders, technical staff, and regulatory bodies to maintain the highest standards for our products.
