About the Role
We are looking to hire a Payroll Accountant (m/f/d) to join our team based in Berlin and Leipzig, Germany. This full-time position offers the opportunity for hybrid work arrangements and focuses on managing payroll processes with a strong emphasis on German payroll tax and social security regulations. The role requires fluency in German (C1) and a minimum of two years experience in payroll administration.
Responsibilities
- Independently handle the monthly payroll preparation for clients, including updating and maintaining employee master data.
- Manage payroll reporting, certification processes, and interactions with tax authorities, social security, and health insurance entities.
- Provide expert payroll guidance and advisory services to clients and colleagues concerning payroll tax and social security matters.
- Resolve complex payroll issues and conduct quality assurance checks within payroll systems.
- Support year-end payroll procedures and audits, specifically those conducted by the German Pension Insurance.
- Engage in key projects such as onboarding new clients and enhancing internal processes through digitalization.
Requirements
- Minimum of two years experience in payroll processing and administration.
- Completed commercial or business-related education, or an equivalent qualification.
- Sound knowledge of German payroll tax laws and social security standards.
- Practical experience with payroll software, particularly DATEV, and readiness to adapt to new technologies.
- Ability to work autonomously with a strong analytical approach and a client-focused attitude.
- Fluent German language skills at C1 level are mandatory.
- Interest in modern technologies and digital process improvement is advantageous.
