Job description
Position Overview
The WA College of Agriculture (WACOA) – Morawa is establishing a pool of Kitchen Hands for both permanent and fixed-term, full-time and part-time roles beginning in the 2026 school year through to the end of Term 3, 2027. Positions may be filled as vacancies arise within this timeframe.
WACOA - Morawa is located in Morawa town, about 100km inland from the coast and approximately 1.5 hours from Geraldton, offering small class settings and the flexibility to cater to individual student needs.
Role Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning, catering, and laundry tasks within the College and Residential Boarding areas to maintain high standards of hygiene, safety, and health.
- Primarily focus on kitchen duties but also provide assistance across other departments as required.
- Report any faults in equipment or facilities promptly.
- Collaborate effectively within a team and contribute to preparing large meal volumes daily.
- Work independently with strong planning and coordination to ensure timely meal preparation.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proven ability to work cooperatively in a team environment under a busy schedule.
- Ability to understand and apply Material Safety Data Sheets, equipment operating instructions, safety guidelines, and training.
- Experience using cleaning machinery such as polishers, vacuum cleaners, and pressure cleaners.
- Competence in performing laundry, cleaning, or catering duties safely with relevant equipment and appliances.
- Obtain a valid Working With Children Check prior to commencement.
- Consent to and obtain clearance from a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check through the Department of Education’s Screening Unit.
- Must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or hold a valid work visa for the contract period.
