Financial Analyst - Remote Contract Opportunity

About the Role

Mercor, a leading talent connector for AI research labs headquartered in San Francisco and backed by notable investors such as Benchmark and General Catalyst, is seeking an Accounting Expert. This is a contract position offering hourly compensation ranging from $130 to $160 and is performed fully remotely.

Key Responsibilities

• Formulate precise and task-oriented grading standards for accounting deliverables including reconciliations, financial closing packages, and financial statements.
• Assess both AI-generated and human-produced accounting samples against these standards, providing thorough written explanations for each assigned score.
• Use consistent and evidence-supported judgment to ensure scored results are reliable and defensible.
• Incorporate constructive feedback from senior reviewers and quickly revise work as needed.
• Work independently and asynchronously in collaboration to improve AI accounting task performances.

Essential Qualifications

• Over 5 years of professional experience in accounting.
• Experience within audit, assurance, or advisory roles at globally recognized accounting firms or significant accounting positions in major public companies.
• Preferably holds CPA or an equivalent professional certification.
• Extensive knowledge and application of US GAAP, month-end closings, reconciliations, preparation of financial statements, and audit-ready documentation.
• Exceptional skills in written communication.
• A strong attention to detail, consistent approach, and comfort with peer-reviewed evaluations.

Desirable Qualifications

• Prior involvement with AI-related training, evaluation, or human-data projects is advantageous.
