Overview
The Oregon Department of Justice’s Division of Child Support (DCS) is actively seeking two Entry-Level Child Support Case Managers to join their Medford office. This role demands keen attention to detail, consistent work habits, and well-developed organizational skills. The Oregon Child Support Program operates under the federal child support system, recognized as a leading anti-poverty initiative in the United States. This role is crucial in supporting parents to provide for their children, contributing positively to the well-being of Oregon’s youth.
Job Responsibilities
- Examine case files and documents to decide the necessity of a child support order.
- Communicate with customers and partner agencies to collect information relevant to establishing paternity and support orders.
- Establish, modify, enforce, and manage accounting related to child support orders following required procedures.
- Interpret and apply pertinent federal and state laws, regulations, and agency policies.
- Ensure the correct disbursement of payments and verify accuracy of state agency claims against child support.
- Handle paternity declarations including filing legal documents and reviewing modification requests.
- Collect wage and healthcare information, calculate support obligations adhering to guidelines.
Work Schedule
Initial training requires working from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, in the office, including a one-hour lunch break. Post-training may allow for more flexible scheduling.
Qualifications
- A minimum of three years of customer service experience involving direct interaction with the public via phone or in-person, including problem resolution and use of computers and common software like Microsoft Office.
- Alternatively, a Bachelor’s Degree can substitute for the experience requirement.
- Successful candidates must pass a comprehensive background check including employment references, fingerprint, and potentially driver's record assessment if driving privileges are involved.

Salary & Advancement
The salary range for this entry-level position is $4,124 to $5,714 monthly. Upon successful completion of a one-year trial service, employees advance to full Child Support Case Manager classification with a salary range of $4,833 to $6,713 monthly.
