Technical Executive / Senior Technical Executive

Role Overview

The position of Technical Executive or Senior Technical Executive involves overseeing and supporting various aspects of the Chemical Pilot Plant (CPP) operations within an educational institution. The candidate will be responsible for training, maintaining facilities, managing resources, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver skills training and evaluations, while offering technical support during practical sessions held in the Chemical Pilot Plant.
• Ensure the upkeep and maintenance of the CPP and related facilities, including adherence to safety standards, managing licenses, inventory control, equipment servicing, and housekeeping. This extends to the correct storage, handling, and disposal of chemicals and materials in compliance with safety, environmental, and legal regulations.
• Handle procurement activities related to chemicals, consumables, materials, and equipment; conduct asset tagging, inspections, and monitor the budget.
• Lead and contribute to industry-linked and consultancy projects, aiding in the practical skills training of students through these projects.
• Coordinate and communicate with external entities such as vendors and licensed contractors concerning all CPP operational matters.
• Maintain accurate documentation covering chemical inventories, safety data sheets, waste disposal records, and reports from contracted services.
• Assist with institutional events including Open House and other outreach or student engagement activities.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree or diploma in chemical engineering, life sciences, or closely related disciplines.
• A minimum of three years' experience in plant operations, process controls (including distributed control systems), water treatment, and workplace safety and health is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work resourcefully and independently to meet deadlines and achieve assigned deliverables.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate within teams and with external partners.
