Job description
About Southern Cross Care WA
Southern Cross Care WA is a long-established, not-for-profit organisation focused on enabling extraordinary lives for West Australians by delivering integrated aged care, community housing, mental health, and home care services. With a team of approximately 1000 staff and 130 volunteers, they serve over 3000 clients, guided by values of listening, acting, perseverance, and teamwork.
Role Overview
This role involves providing personalised in-home care and support services for elderly clients in the Busselton and surrounding areas. It requires reliable transportation to travel between clients' homes and the ability to work onsite. The position emphasizes delivering person-centred care to help clients live safely and comfortably at home.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients with everyday tasks such as personal care, medication observation, preparing meals, shopping, cleaning, and providing social support.
- Communicate regularly with Care Coordinators to report on client needs and any changes.
- Adhere closely to individualized care plans and use smartphone applications for activity logging.
- Build trusting and positive relationships with clients and their families.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should be passionate about aged care and ready to work independently while caring deeply about clients' wellbeing. Experience in aged or community care is desirable but not essential; those who have cared for family or friends and seek to start a home care career are welcome. Strong interpersonal skills and a natural ability to develop meaningful connections are important.
Requirements
- Ownership of a reliable, roadworthy vehicle and a valid driver's license for work travel.
- Availability to work at least 3–5 weekdays with a friendly, approachable demeanor.
- First Aid certification is mandatory.
- Preferred qualifications include certifications in Aged Care, Individual Support, or Community Services.
- Additional beneficial certificates: Manual Handling, Medication Administration, and NDIS Worker Screen Check.
- Good communication and prioritization abilities along with aptitude for learning new software tools.
Benefits and Working Conditions
- Access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $18,550 per annum, including $15,900 for general expenses and $2,650 for entertainment.
- Discounts on corporate health insurance and free employee assistance program.
- Generous leave entitlements including four weeks annual leave, paid parental, and carers/personal leave.
- Opportunities for professional development within a diverse service portfolio.
- Recognition awards for long-term service and a flexible, supportive workplace culture.
Additional Information
Applicants who progress to interview must provide a current (within six months) National Police Clearance or evidence of application, up-to-date immunisation records including influenza vaccination, pre-employment health declaration, and proof of work rights. Southern Cross Care WA is committed to equal opportunity, diversity, inclusion, and respect for Traditional Owners of the lands where they operate.
