About the Role and Organization
Optum, part of UnitedHealth Group, is a global health services organization leveraging technology to enhance care delivery and improve health outcomes for millions worldwide. Joining the Clinical Solutions Data Operations team as Director, Data Analytics, you will be instrumental in steering business analytics, reporting, and data management efforts in a complex, matrixed environment. This senior leadership position involves cross-functional collaboration with business, operations, and technology teams to prioritize initiatives and provide actionable business insights. The role includes managing partnerships with key stakeholders to align priorities and support the end-to-end data operations ecosystem while upholding high standards in data quality and decision support. The position is based in Dublin with a hybrid work model allowing flexible remote work opportunities within Ireland.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the development, delivery, and ongoing enhancement of business intelligence, analytics, reporting, and data management solutions to support strategic and operational decisions.
- Establish and govern key performance indicators, reporting standards, dashboards, and analytical insights to ensure clarity, consistency, and reliability for leadership.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders across business functions, operations, data engineering, and technology to convert business requirements into scalable analytics frameworks.
- Oversee the prioritization, dependency management, risk mitigation, and resolution of issues within a portfolio of analytics and reporting projects.
- Champion initiatives focused on data quality improvement, consistency, automation, and adoption of AI techniques to enhance reporting and insight generation.
- Lead, mentor, and cultivate a high-performing team of data and analytics professionals fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, diversity, and performance excellence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Information Systems, Business, Technology, or related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- Extensive experience managing data analytics, business intelligence, data operations, or similar functions in complex organizational settings.
- Proven leadership of teams delivering business intelligence, dashboards, reporting, data quality assurance, insight development, and business performance analytics.
- Firm understanding of data governance principles, metric definitions, and controls necessary for consistent and reliable business information delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with senior business leaders and technology teams translating needs into scalable analytical solutions.
- Strong leadership, communication, and execution prowess, with successful influence in matrixed environments and managing competing priorities to achieve measurable outcomes.
Preferred Experience
- Knowledge of the U.S. healthcare services industry is advantageous.
- Familiarity with U.S. healthcare risk adjustment and population health management is beneficial.
- Formal certification or training in Data Analytics or related disciplines is preferred.
