Job Overview
We are seeking a dependable and proactive Schools Officer specializing in grounds and facilities. This role is vital in maintaining the school's surroundings and infrastructure to ensure a safe, welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The position requires a hands-on approach with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. The role is progressive, starting at a lower classification with potential advancement upon meeting specified criteria.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out daily tasks such as handling mail, parcels, and documents; recording and delivering messages; performing printing and photocopying duties.
- Prepare classrooms for examinations and configure activity or assembly spaces, including moving and arranging furniture as needed.
- Manage general store functions including receipt, inspection, storage, and distribution of school supplies and inventory.
- Maintain school records such as various registers and asset stocktaking, including engraving equipment and furniture.
- Support security operations by managing school security systems, transporting and depositing school funds (excluding fund collection and reconciliation), and unlocking/locking buildings during core hours.
- Assist with grounds maintenance tasks like cleaning drains, gutters, and collecting waste on school property as coordinated with relevant staff.
- Perform immediate cleaning actions outside regular cleaning hours and coordinate removal or disposal of rubbish as necessary.
- Provide assistance for significant school events such as fetes, plays, and major sports activities.
