About the Role
We are seeking a Junior Business Analyst for a 12-month contract at a prominent public sector organisation based in Dún Laoghaire, Co. Dublin. The position offers a hybrid working pattern with three days remote and two days onsite, commencing September 2026, with a competitive day rate of 350 EUR and the possibility of contract extension. This role is ideal for candidates with 1 to 3 years of experience eager to enhance their expertise in business analysis, application support, system configuration, data migration, and stakeholder interaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Level 1 and Level 2 support for critical business applications in a live production environment.
- Investigate, diagnose, and resolve incidents, conducting root cause analyses as necessary.
- Manage support tickets through tools such as ServiceNow or Jira, ensuring compliance with service level agreements.
- Assist users internally and externally by resolving issues, conducting onboarding sessions, delivering training, and creating user documentation.
- Configure and maintain grant management or case management systems, including the introduction of new schemes and system improvements.
- Participate in full project lifecycles, covering requirements collection, solution setup, testing (including UAT), and deployment phases.
- Support data migration efforts such as mapping, transforming, validating, reconciling, and quality controlling data.
- Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements clearly and precisely.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to identify and implement process enhancements.
- Contribute to the development and upkeep of Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Create comprehensive functional and technical documentation, as well as test scripts and validation reports.
Required Skills and Experience
- 1 to 3 years in roles such as Business Analyst or Application Support, preferably with increasing responsibilities.
- Proven experience providing Level 1 and Level 2 application support.
- Strong skills in incident management, problem identification, and resolution techniques.
- Familiarity with ticket management platforms such as ServiceNow and Jira or their equivalents.
- Experience in system implementations, including configuration and testing phases.
- Knowledge of data migration processes including mapping, validation, and reconciliation.
- Competence in gathering and documenting business and functional requirements.
- Understanding of Power BI reporting tools and dashboard creation.
- Excellent communication abilities and skillful stakeholder engagement.
Preferred Experience
- Knowledge of SmartSimple or other grant/case management platforms.
- Previous exposure to roles in the public sector or regulated environments.
- Experience contributing to digital transformation or business systems projects.
Educational Qualifications
A degree or equivalent qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Project Management, Finance, or related fields is required.
Key Deliverables
- Efficient management of the application support helpdesk.
- Configuration and operational support of grant management schemes within the business platform.
- Generation of functional and technical documentation.
- Provision of data migration assistance, including test script development and validation reporting.
- Ongoing support for the development and maintenance of Power BI reports and dashboards.
