About the Role

Join the Financial Accounting Team at MBIE, a lively and diverse group passionate about quality financial reporting. This full-time, permanent opportunity based in Wellington involves managing the month-end process, performing monthly General Ledger Balance Sheet reconciliations for both the Crown and Department, and resolving outstanding items to guarantee accurate and comprehensive financial results. Your detailed work will be reviewed through a rigorous multi-layered peer review and signoff process. You will also provide expert advice to enhance understanding of financial accounting management within the Ministry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute month-end closing activities and conduct thorough General Ledger balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Clear outstanding financial issues to ensure completeness and accuracy of reported results.
  • Provide expert financial advice to improve stakeholders’ understanding of financial accounting practices.

  • Familiarity with financial reporting reconciliation processes.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Chartered Accountant qualification or progress towards it is preferred.
