About the Role
The Ministry of Education New Zealand seeks a full-time Transport Delivery Advisor primarily based in Napier, Hawke's Bay or Tauranga, Bay of Plenty. This role involves contributing to the provision of safe, dependable, and efficient school transport services across various communities in New Zealand. It requires managing transport routes, evaluating student eligibility for transport assistance, ensuring adherence to contracts, and leading service improvement initiatives through route reviews.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and evaluate school transport routes to align with policies and operational standards.
- Determine student eligibility for transport support following Ministry guidelines.
- Monitor contract compliance and coordinate follow-ups on any incidents with transport providers.
- Lead route evaluations and assist in enhancing transport service delivery.
- Develop and sustain effective relationships with schools, community members, and other stakeholders.
- Work closely with internal Ministry teams to integrate transport services with overarching educational goals.

- Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and commitment to promoting Māori equity.

About the Team and Organisation
The role is within the National Services and Programmes group under Te Mahau | Education Services, offering integrated support and regulation to education providers nationwide. The School Transport team is a major public transport purchaser in New Zealand, collaborating to overcome challenges and implement innovative transport solutions for over 100,000 ākonga daily, with a budget of about $255 million annually. The team values a culture of mutual support, relationship-building, and delivering high-quality service.
Salary and Additional Information
The salary range for this permanent role is $85,225 to $103,071 annually, plus KiwiSaver benefits. The final salary will be calibrated based on individual experience and qualifications. Candidates from anywhere in the country are encouraged to apply, with preferred placement in Hawkes Bay or Bay of Plenty.
