About The Role
The Transmitter delivers timely news and insightful analysis focused on neuroscience, dedicated to supporting scientists throughout their careers to stay informed and connected. We are currently looking for a passionate science reporting intern to join our vibrant newsroom at the Simons Foundation offices in New York City for the fall season of 2026. This paid opportunity requires a commitment of at least 32 hours per week and offers an excellent foundation for emerging science journalists interested in covering the rapidly evolving neuroscience sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Pitch story ideas, conduct reporting, and write news articles that inform, provoke thought, and motivate our scientific readership.
- Perform additional tasks or duties as assigned within the newsroom.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor's degree is required, ideally in a scientific field.
- Graduate-level journalism education is preferred.
- Demonstrated background or keen interest in neuroscience, genetics, cognition, and behavior.
- Knowledge and strict adherence to established journalistic ethics.

Compensation Details
The internship offers remuneration ranging from $20 to $25 per hour, commensurate with the applicant's academic degree level.
