Position Overview
Join Victor Energy as a Junior Field Safety Coordinator, where you'll play a vital role in maintaining safety onsite by supporting crews, identifying hazards early, and gaining hands-on experience under the guidance of seasoned safety professionals. This entry-level position offers a strong foundation for those eager to develop a career in safety coordination, with mentorship and a defined progression path toward full coordinator status.
Daily Routine
- Begin each day participating in morning tailboard and safety meetings with the crew.
- Visit assigned project sites to perform detailed field observations and inspections, including supervisor checks, behaviour-based safety assessments, fire extinguisher verifications, and spot audits.
- Accurately record observations and inspections in the SiteDocs system throughout the day.
- Compile daily safety statistics and provide a comprehensive end-of-day summary report.
- Complete daily timecards and wrap up administrative tasks.
Fieldwork typically involves extended days of 10 to 11 hours, including travel time, working outdoors in active construction environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a prominent and approachable safety presence onsite, cultivating trust with crews and supervisors.
- Perform regular inspections and safety observations, promptly reporting identified hazards.
- Ensure thorough and consistent documentation in SiteDocs.
- Assist with incident investigations and follow-up on corrective actions.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of safe work procedures.
- Lead weekly safety meetings and coordinate the monthly Joint Health & Safety Committee gatherings.
- Acquire knowledge of Victor Energy's safety standards and client requirements, working towards independent safety coordination.
Candidate Requirements
- Possession or ongoing completion of an NCSO, OHS certificate, or safety diploma.
- Certification in Standard First Aid and CPR.
- Valid driver's licence and readiness to travel to various project locations.
- Ability to endure long outdoor field days in construction settings.
- Dependable, willing to learn, detail-focused, and a committed safety advocate.
- Desirable Extras: Experience in construction, utilities, or high-voltage transmission sectors; familiarity with platforms such as SiteDocs, BisTrainer, or contractor compliance tools like ISNetworld, Avetta, and ComplyWorks; progression towards CRST certification or equivalent.
