Human Resources Generalist

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Generalist to provide comprehensive HR support across several locations in Columbus, Ohio. This role involves handling employee relations, HR operations, compliance, and training managers, primarily within union and nonunion settings. The position is an 8-month contract with the possibility of extending or converting to permanent status, requiring onsite presence Monday through Friday.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with employee relations issues and conduct investigations.
• Address inquiries from employees and managers regarding HR matters.
• Draft job change notifications and manage job descriptions.
• Evaluate background check outcomes.
• Perform exit interviews and assess patterns for organizational insights.
• Monitor compliance-related training and certifications.
• Keep employee records updated and accurate.
• Provide training to new managers on HR processes.
• Assist with compensation, benefits, leave management, and performance evaluations.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline.
• 3 to 4 years of experience in HR coordination or generalist roles.
• Exposure to supporting union workforces, either internally or through external services.
• Proven ability in onboarding large groups of new employees simultaneously.
• Solid understanding of labor laws including FMLA, CFRA, ADA, and FLSA.
• Comfortable working in a dynamic construction environment with ease in navigating job sites.

Preferred Qualifications

• SHRM Certified Professional designation (SHRM CP).
• Experience supporting multiple locations.
• Familiarity with Oracle HRM as an HR information system.
• Background in surge onboarding for large numbers of union hires.

Additional Information

• Compensation ranges from $32 to $35 per hour.
• Work schedule is full-time onsite Monday through Friday.
• The contract is initially 8 months with potential for extension or transition to permanent employment.
