Role Overview
The Data Analyst in an Entry or Junior capacity will contribute to Google Developer Student Clubs activities by collecting, cleaning, and analyzing various datasets related to events, membership, and project results. This part-time position based in Sydney, NSW involves a hybrid work model, combining on-campus and remote work. The analyst will create comprehensive dashboards and reports aimed at revealing patterns in participation, engagement, and program impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage datasets tailored to club activities.
- Conduct basic statistical analyses to extract insights from data.
- Design and develop simple data models that describe or predict trends.
- Visualize data findings effectively for stakeholders without a technical background.
- Work closely with event organizers to establish appropriate metrics and success indicators.
- Communicate insights clearly through presentations and reports.
- Advise on data-driven enhancements to improve programs and outreach efforts.
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong analytical abilities combined with foundational data analysis experience.
- Understanding of statistics and the ability to interpret numerical results.
- Skills in data modeling including structuring datasets and creating predictive or descriptive models.
- Effective communication skills for conveying insights to both technical and layperson audiences.
- Familiarity with spreadsheet software, basic SQL commands, and introductory data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Google Data Studio.
- Detail-oriented with a problem-solving approach and capable of working autonomously as well as collaboratively.
- Interest in technology, student communities, and ongoing professional growth; enrollment in data science, statistics, computer science, or a related academic program is advantageous.
- Must have dependable access to Sydney, NSW for occasional on-site responsibilities while retaining the flexibility to work remotely.
