Job Overview

We are seeking a Cost Accounting Manager to join our growing finance team in Cork. This permanent, full-time role reports to the Finance Director and carries significant responsibility within a US publicly listed company, overseeing a complex, SOX-compliant cost accounting function.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the entire standard costing process including quarterly updates, new SKU setup, and reviewing overhead rates.
• Lead quarterly calculations and reporting of inventory reserves such as Excess & Obsolete stock, Lower of Cost or Market assessments, Used Inventory, and ODM Excess Material liabilities.
• Compile and present monthly and quarterly actual period costs and forecasts to senior management, including reports for Inventory Management and Period Cost Reviews.
• Collaborate with Operations to monitor and analyze cost components like Purchase Price Variance and Tariff or Duty fees, providing accounting insights.
• Oversee monthly and quarterly Cost Trial Balance and Standard Margin reconciliations, including allocations following period close.
• Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors regarding cost accounting and inventory control processes.
• Where applicable, supervise a Cost Accountant to maintain the quality and timely delivery of accounting records and reports.
• Champion continuous improvements to accounting systems and processes by identifying automation and efficiency enhancements.

Candidate Profile

• Holds a recognized accounting certification such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent.
• Extensive experience in cost accounting within manufacturing, hardware, or technology sectors.
• Comprehensive knowledge of standard costing methodologies, inventory valuation, and reserve computations under US GAAP.
• Experienced in working in public company environments compliant with SOX regulations.
• Skilled in Oracle EBS/OCI and advanced Excel; familiarity with OAS is a plus.
• Proven capability to manage complex cost accounting functions independently and lead a global team.
• Confident communicator with experience presenting to senior leadership and coordinating with US-based teams across time zones.
• Proactive about streamlining manual accounting processes and driving improvements through automation.
