About the Role
Join Egis Road & Tunnel Operation (ERTO) at the Motorway Operations Control Centre (MOCC) where we oversee 1200km of motorways, tunnels, and national roads on behalf of Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII). Be part of a committed team focused on maintaining top safety standards for road users. This position is unique within Ireland, offering comprehensive training on all safety response and traffic management systems. Our control room boasts one of Europe's largest wall-mounted TV displays providing a full view of the road network. On behalf of TII, the MOCC coordinates responses to various emergencies including multi-vehicle accidents, shed load incidents, and even assisting ducklings crossing motorways. We operate a world-leading traffic management platform to handle congestion and incidents on the M50 motorway.
Located at the Dublin Tunnel in East Wall, Dublin 3, our centre operates around the clock every day of the year, delivering exemplary service to the public. This role combines advanced technology with real-world application, offering a unique career experience few knew existed.
Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to incidents, accidents, and emergencies across the national motorway network and Dublin Tunnel.
- Work shifts on a 4 days on, 4 days off rotation.
- Utilize state-of-the-art technology to detect, analyze, and manage traffic flows and incident responses.
- Coordinate with emergency services, contractors, and other stakeholders to facilitate timely resolutions.
- Communicate clear instructions to drivers via multiple channels such as variable message signs and social media platforms.
- Maintain detailed incident logs and compile thorough reports as part of administrative responsibilities.
- Ensure smooth and safe traffic movement by effectively liaising with team members and external parties.
- Adhere strictly to company standards including ISO 55001, ISO 27001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001 protocols.
Qualifications
- At least two years of relevant customer service experience.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of self-motivation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for delivering precise guidance and updates.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Organizational skills to effectively manage logs and reporting.
- Previous experience in traffic management or control room environments is advantageous.
