About the Role
We are seeking a dependable and driven Batcher / Plant Operator to join the Adbri Concrete team in Katherine, Northern Territory. This role is a great opportunity for those aiming to enter the concrete industry or expand their experience in construction or operations. Previous batching expertise is not necessary as full training will be provided for committed candidates with strong work ethics who thrive in dynamic team settings.
The position involves a mix of tasks including concrete batching, handling customer communications, scheduling deliveries, loader operations, and plant management, ensuring a diverse and engaging work experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage incoming customer orders via phone and email
- Plan and allocate concrete deliveries efficiently
- Operate the concrete batching system accurately
- Coordinate driver schedules to ensure timely deliveries
- Operate loaders to supply raw materials to the plant
- Monitor inventory and reorder raw materials as needed
- Conduct plant pre-start checks and maintain cleanliness
- Document deliveries and complete end-of-day administrative tasks
- Assist in monthly stocktaking procedures
- Maintain a safe, well-organized, and compliant worksite
Work Schedule
Monday to Friday with shifts scheduled between 5am and 5pm; Saturdays may be required on occasion.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience in construction, civil works, transport, or building materials preferred but not mandatory
- Strong communication and customer service capabilities
- Effective organizational skills and problem-solving aptitude
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment
- Basic proficiency with computer systems and confidence in using technology
- Commitment to safety protocols and procedures
- Dependable and eager to learn new skills
- Loader operation experience is advantageous but training can be provided
