Position Overview
The Class 1 HGV Driver position involves a variety of driving assignments, including both long-distance and multi-drop deliveries. The role demands adaptability as duties range from trunking and handling different trailer types to working with multiple clients. Candidates should expect to operate both refrigerated and curtain-sided vehicles, ensuring adherence to all safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out transport operations such as trunking, pallet network deliveries, multi-drop consignments, and managing curtain-sided trailers.
- Fulfill transportation requirements across various clients based at the depot, delivering tailored services per customer expectations.
- Operate refrigerated and curtain-sided vehicles efficiently, manage timely loading/unloading, and monitor temperature controls when necessary.
- Pursue ongoing professional certifications, including the LST (Longer Semi-Trailer) license as part of continued development.
- Complete daily checks of the assigned vehicle using company mobile tools, swiftly reporting any issues in accordance with policy and legal obligations.
- Keep clear and regular communication with the transport coordination team regarding delivery status, delays, and any incidents.
- Participate in all scheduled training sessions, remaining compliant with health, safety, and best practice standards.
Requirements
- Possession of a valid UK Class 1 CE Licence.
- Active DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
- Direct delivery experience to client locations is advantageous.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines efficiently.
- Strong communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to work harmoniously with others.
- Sound geographical awareness and route knowledge.
- Physically fit, adaptable, diligent, and self-driven.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary of £39,161.00.
- Work schedule: Monday to Friday, starting between 05:00 and 08:00 AM.
